here at this conference okay i give you alvey thank you now let's see the rest of these mics working okay if you can't hear me or too well just say so how many of you here attended the uh one hour presentation i gave thursday morning virtually all of you good therefore i won't repeat what i said thursday morning or try not to try to go on from there what i want to do here this afternoon is go much more in depth into the background of the preparations for the experiment who was involved some of their history more detail on my own history little i can dredge up of that and what happened in the aftermath of the experiment and also some theoretical discussions of what happened and what made it happen and what was wrong perhaps the first person i'll go into in the history is of course the man who was the first director and he was born the first and that was nicola tesla was born 1856 in smiljan croatia which is now part of yugoslavia it's a very small town he's born a relatively poor parents his father was a preacher a priest actually in the church and his mother while illiterate apparently had a great deal of capability of building things uh designing things little inventions around the home and this sort of thing his father was perhaps more stern his mother was more loving and his father of course being a priest expected uh young nicola to also follow in his footsteps to become a priest well nicola from an early age approximately seven had the idea that he wanted to do something else he wanted to do something creative he had a great deal of interest in science and math at an early age used to read books at night until his father came in took them away from him put the light out lights of course in those days being a candle and his mother tried to sort of foster his interests but a fairly early age he he came down with a extreme illness very ill to the point almost to death and his father finally relented perhaps there was a little bit of conversation to the effect that well um i want to go to school my father says no i want you to be a priest his father finally said all right if you get well you can do whatever you want and go to engineering school so tesla well whether this was accidental or by design anybody can speculate who knows in 1879 he did after finishing what they call the gymnasium he did go to school in the college university for the first year he was an outstanding student but then something unpredicted happened his father died and all funding was cut off he continued as much as possible to monitor the schools in the schooling but he had to go to work so we went to work for the telephone company for a number of years then he went to work with the european edison company that had its headquarters in paris and from paris in 1884 i decided it was time to leave for the united states he started out with a fairly good amount of baggage and whatever else he wanted to bring with him but somehow it got lost in transit stolen or whatever he went up in his boat with his ticket came to the u.s went to ellis island like everybody else arrived as they say with four cents in his pocket a book of poetry at that point a working knowledge of 11 languages and most important of all a letter introduction to thomas alva edison from the manager of the works in paris so he went to anderson took whatever work he could in the meantime because he had no money he was uh seen around new york for a period of time digging ditches and edison uh interviewed him put him to work and about six months later they had an argument over money and nature the argument was rather simple he'd been promised if he could solve a specific problem for edison that he would pay him fifty thousand dollars in cash well he solved the problem for edison and uh he went to edison for his uh reward if you will his bonus madison said oh i thought you appreciated the american sense of humor that you're not getting any money well tesla did not appreciate the american sense of humor when he left he walked out went back to digging ditches shortly after that the head of the western union company whose name i do not recall but it is in the movie done by zagreb productions out of yugoslavia entitled the secret of nicola tesla which is excellent documentation of his early life along comes the president of western union actually introduced to him by the uh publisher and the wife of century magazine in new york whom tesla had met at essen's lab in fact they were instrumental in getting uh tesla to be introduced to and entered and actually interviewed by edison they came along with president of western union and uh he talked to him said mr tesla said yes i said what are you doing he says i think that should be obvious i'm digging ditches he says well i've heard about you what would it take to get you to work on your motor said it would take my own lab and the money he says i will not take somebody else's i would like to build my own lab and he says how much money do you think it will take which is oh probably thirty thousand dollars so the president western union wrote out of the check gave it to me says okay get out of the ditches and start going to work which he did that was the beginning of the you might say the climb to fame of nikola tesla he built his motors and his generators out of his theory he already had 20 patents on ac electrical theory motors generators and what have you and he used to demonstrate many things at the old institute of electrical engineers in new york which was founded about 1879 i remember correctly and it was a little later than that that he gave his demonstration one day in ac power systems against the normal dc power being used in new york of course at that time edison already being very well established in the power industry as proponent of dc and built dc generators and motor systems and power transmission systems all over the united states and europe but dc had one major drawback you could not transform it in voltage and the ir drop as they call it to drop through the power lines due to the load consumption became excessive and they could only wire them to run a few miles before the voltage dropped so low that it was useless tesla's system with ac power was basically as those of you ever studied it know was to transmit high voltage power transforming it up from whatever output came from the ac alternators to high voltage transmitted over the lines take it to the area where you want to use it step it down with another transformer to the voltages which were useful to those who were the customers well he had to cause a big argument with edison about this and edison thought it was a dead-end street and was useless of course edison had a vested interest and didn't want to hear about ac but the president of western union did so edison gave eventually a demonstration before the ie in new york and at that demonstration were a number of people including one george westinghouse now george westinghouse was of course a very practical man he wanted after that demonstration he wanted to be introduced to nikola tesla so he was introduced according to the movie he introduced himself which may well have been the case invited him out to dinner that night at the world of historian they struck up a deal the deal was one million dollars cold cash for his 20 patents and one dollar per horsepower for every horsepower produced in terms of a motor or piece of equipment which use the ac power that really put tesla in business along about 1878 i believe it was tesla became a naturalized citizen things went on from there he had a contest he engaged in the contest and as the movie shows there was a commission of five people headed by lord kelvin of england to decide what power system would be used for the new hydroelectric power system to be built in niagara falls new york edison of course was counting very heavily on this in the meantime a certain financier by the name of jp morgan got into the act was introduced to tesla and decided to take a great interest in him and possibly finance him edison was very upset but there's nothing you do about it because after all jp morgan was his own man and was finally decided after morgan looked into what was going on in europe and that they had already built and used a tesla ac power system which transmitted power for some 150 miles which was an unheard of distance in those days at that point they couldn't conceive of the power grids we have now which cover the continent in any case jp morgan decided along with the commission that the one to get the project for niagara falls was mr tesla so he did build the ac power plant the first major installation in the united states using the ac power system and he transmitted power all the way to new york city which was a first he also built a system for providing power for the chicago world's fair and exposition in 1893 which again was the first and did something else which was a first he developed and demonstrated at 1893 at the fair the first radio controlled boat in a boat basin of course jp morgan had his man adams there who examined it looked at it and finally asked him he says where are the wires he says i thought you realized there are no wires and doing this by radio or whatever he wanted to call it at that time it was also about that time approximately eighteen where a certain gentleman from italy known as googly army marconi among the many visitors to his lab came in introduced himself says i would like to look at some of the things you have done and tesla was a very generous man says my files are over there help yourself he did apparently took some of the file work with him in any case made duplicates or copies by hand in those days they didn't have xerox machines and went back to italy with his information and notes and though i'm jumping ahead of the schedule of what happened in 1903 he demonstrated transatlantic radio by means of a spark gap transmitter and a coherent eco cohere system in the other side of atlantic and claimed the invention of radio the world acclaimed marconi because he was backed by the vatican and that is a fairly powerful group to back whatever you're doing and of course no credit whatever was given to tesla at that time because he was not attempting to do broadcasting he was only interested in others other things among them the radio model controlled both 1898 he again demonstrated this radio control boat in madison square garden new york and in 1899 he went to jp morgan who was very interested in this boat says i wish to do some research colorado springs on some more basic things and jp morgan gave his blessing and said you'll have the money you need so off he went to colorado springs in 1899 at which time was a very small town had one power generator system approximately 10 thousand kilowatts capacity and he built his lab out in the hitter lands with a large tower there are pictures of it of course excellent and for two years he did his basic experimental work he wanted to find out more about the basic nature of the earth of its place in the cosmogeny of power and of anything else he could learn he learned a great deal from that among them were and he demonstrated at that colorado springs laboratory that he could transmit power by means other than wires radio wireless transmission power if you will through the ethers he used to light lamp bulbs at a distance of 26 miles not little tiny ones but good size one several hundred watts and little uh plugs in the earth he was uh moving his bulbs around in the ground to find out what kind of standing wave currency had did many things like this produce bolts of lightning from his tesla generator over 200 feet long which has never been replicated to this day at least not to my knowledge he also did something else which was a first with his apparatus i do not know what apparatus he used to how he used it he engaged in communications with extraterrestrials this becomes very important because of events later on he made a press announcement at that time in 1900 that he had been in communication with somebody off planet he didn't elaborate very much the press wanted more information he didn't give much but even so his scientific colleagues took a very dim view of an announcement like that but he was tesla and he was riding high at that point so it was probably overlooked a little later he went to jp morgan and says i wish to build a tower and the system and the equipment for transmitting messages through the air what we now call radio of course and pictures which we now call television j p morgan says mr tesla if you can do this sort of thing for me you have unlimited funding go to it so we started on long island and built his wharton cliff tower in 1905. in 1906 when it was virtually finished he went to jp morgan again he says mr morgan what i would really like to do is to demonstrate the wireless transmission of power so morgan looked at him and says mr tesla are you telling me that with anybody with the two rods one that sticks on the ground and the other he puts up in the air they can get all the power they want and i can't put a meter on it i will let you know mr tesla when i'm ready for you and he never was so that was the end of jp morgan's packing now there were two conflicting stories as to what happened after that one of them says jp morgan and this is the zager productions movie scenario that jp morgan cut off all funding at that point and he had to stop any further work on his tower the tower was by the way dynamited in 1917 by parties unknown at least as far as the public record is concerned the other version written by tesla himself as an autobiography which i have a copy of and i only acquired about two or three months ago to my surprise only goes up to about 1917 but he states flatly that jp morgan kept all of his agreements to the letter which implies that he did not cut him off on the wharton cliff tower funding but that tesla realized he was too far ahead of his time and diverted his efforts to other directions but the jp morgan did not drop out i do not know which version is factual one of these days i'll find out in any case the word cliff tower was destroyed in 1917 and the war was on in the first world war enters a gentleman by the name of franklin delano roosevelt then under secretary of the st of the navy and he roosevelt invites tesla to washington says mr tesla how would you like to do some work for the government for the war effort he said certainly so he did he did a number of things one of the items which is in public print now more or less was his development through a proxy if you will of the rogers radio communication system rogers was the man who took out the patents apparently at tesla's behest why i don't know but the patents are registered in roger's name and later on it was revealed that tesla was the man who did the development it was a voice communication system using a new approach and a special antenna system buried on the ground primarily in which they had static free voice communication to europe in 1917 which was totally unheard of and kept under wraps until nineteen twenty three one that was revealed for the first time in the hugo guerns back publications by hugo guerinsback electrical experimenter and one of the others that he had it uh did a strange oscillation the story of the rogers system from that point on its surface that was buried people have tried to investigate it and couldn't find it and eventually the patents did surface and it is a matter of fact that it did exist and it's also a matter of fact that the us government still uses the system to this day as a backup and all of the missile towers the silos which have existed around the u.s for part of the uh the liquid rocket program the i believe it was the titan which was uh approximately 50 silos many of which were in the tucson area they had of course regular telephone communications they had standard radio communications they also had a backup system known as the rogers communication system it was very obvious that they had it because you could see it from the antenna which was a very special antenna design partially above ground partially below friend of mine was sitting 200 feet from the silo in the north side of tucson which he thought was a training silo until they pulled the live missile out and destroyed it and the silo but he saw the antenna system there well during the 20s strange things happened tesla among other things at that time was working for the american marconi company 1917 the american marconi company was seized by the u.s government as a possible alien operation which might be harboring some spies and so forth and so on you know how paranoia gets during the war anyway they seized the company in 1919 a new company was formed entitled radio corporation of america it was incorporated in august of 1919 and went into full operation sometime in december of 1919 and all of the personnel basically from american marconi would transfer to rca tesla with them tesla remained with an rca from 1919 until 1939. he was an engineer and he was a engineer in charge of development and engineering then he was director of engineering 1935 he became vice president of rca and director of all engineering and research worldwide he remained in that position until 1939 when he retired there was a party retirement party for him at cherry hill new jersey it's a matter of record though i haven't been able to get back there and find it in the archives somebody else did and told me about it the other peculiar aspect of that was that he changed his name one of the reasons why people cannot trace him in the records is because about 1928-29 he changed his name officially from nicola tesla to dr nicola turbo d-e-r-b-o which i believe is a cousin's name the reasons for that are somewhat obscure but seem to be based on the fact that the name tesla was being buried in the literature as a non-entity and somebody who is if not a crackpot close to it by the power interests and the vested interests and rca was uncomfortable about it so speculation is that by agreement he changed his name the name has been erased from the rca archives of tesla if you look up for pay records and such you will not find the name tesla in the rca records you will find the name dr nicola tesla turbo i'm sorry that is there that's been researched by a friend of mine well long in 1931 tesla did demonstrate a practical usage for the transmission of wireless power that was his famous automobile in 1931 in new york city a pierce arrow where she took the standard motor out and probably the standard transmission and put an electric motor a special control box nobody knows what was in it because he carried it with him whenever he's going to demonstrate the car he plugged it in the dashboard twiddled a few knobs turned on a switch and he had power to run this 75 horsepower electric motor which was quite sufficient power to move a pierce arrow ran all over new york city got all kinds of press it's in the press yet to these days if you know where to look and apparently ran upstate with it too allegedly the apocryphal stories say it has stored upstate new york someplace he went up as far as buffalo and then he turned again to other things he proved he was practical and that was an important point j.p morgan is already long dead i do not know the exact date of his death in 1933 franklin delano roosevelt getting a little ahead of the story again became president of the united states and of course invited tesla to washington again how are you mr tesla the usual uh amenities how would you like to do some work for the government again tesla said yes his fortunes weren't doing too well at that time and he long since lost the royalties he was getting from george westinghouse he tore up the patent agreement in order to save westinghouse's corporation cost some 10 million dollars on the spot and god knows how much after that and people have estimated 40 to 50 million anybody's estimate so he said yes i'd work for the government and he was appointed director of the then budding ex project called project invisibility in 1934 of course i left chicago as i had lined previously i went to the institute there at the institute were a number of other people i would like to go a little bit into their background and what took place to lay the groundwork for the development of such a system and such an idea i won't go on any hairy math but i will go into the history of the mathematicians and such that took part in this entire operation the tesla fairly well covered the second person was david hilbert born in kernersburg germany 23 january 1862 is very contemporary with tesla he went to various universities university of kentuckysburg and that was in 1880 84 1885 he acquired his phd in math and then from that point on he was teaching in various university systems in germany up until the time of his retirement in 1930. now what did he do he developed four or five i believe by count five different systems of mathematics of which only the fifth is important to us in terms of the project and that was his so-called hilbert space gilbert space as it has been coined was a very abstruse and let us say mathematically uh far out system for describing in mathematical terms multiple universes and multiple realities it was very important that somebody outlined this in terms of mathematics to prove that such a thing could be even though nobody had ever proved it in fact at least not in our society or civilization to that point during that period when von neumann was teaching in germany 1926 to 1930 he met hilbert did a paper on albert in german i don't have it and of course he himself left in 1930. but hilbert developed this work he retired in 1930 because he had had a severe illness in 1926 pernicious anemia they thought he'd die of it because he didn't really have a cure for it in those days but somebody came forth in germany with a cure which was effective and worked so dr hilbert recovered taught for another four years retired and he died in 1943 i believe 14 february i got karen's bag he did not see the fruits of his labor so to speak maybe he's better off who knows any case hilbert played a very important part and was a very highly respected mathematician in germany was ranked with the top of the last two or three centuries perhaps not in the top echelon number one but he was very very well respected for his work albert einstein of course most people have heard of and know much about he was born 14 march 1879 home germany he was considered if you can believe this a very slow learner as a kid until he latched onto some books in mathematics when he latched on to those books in mathematics things changed it became a sort of a child prodigy in mathematics and he went on to school took various degrees and won various prizes he took his phd the university of zurich 1905. it was at that period of time when he couldn't get work he went to work with the patent office in zurich 1905 to i believe 1907 of thereabouts and also during that period approximately he started to work on and developed his theory of special relativity when that was released he had office of work all over europe he was considered a genius and that sort of thing and he had no problem getting any work in teaching in the university systems in europe later on he released the general theory of relativity and he was very highly respected stayed on in germany in 1928 he did travel a bit he learned a number of things met a number of people including lord russell of england to whom he first released his general theory or rather universal theory of relativity which is the one which has been said to never have been published and have been withdrawn it was withdrawn temporarily on the request in fact almost the statements of necessity by lord russell that the one the world is not ready for this uh two if you release this who knows what will happen as a result of your mathematics and what you were showing so he did withdraw at least for then and said he had to make corrections regardless of what corrections he may or may not have made it was released at a later date i do not know when but it was released in the united states secretly now in 1930 was the nazi party was rising to power not because he was under pressure to leave germany but because friends of his insisted he had better leave germany and been on unlike the uh many of the reports which have been issued in some biographies of siri of einstein he was not forced to leave germany then the national socialist party considered him a national asset and did not want him to leave they wanted him to stay his friend smuggled him out literally in 1930 to california where he taught for three years at caltech lived there in pasadena and a friend of mine an englishman now dead named john foreman was a man who invented developed the proximity fuse in england during world war ii as well as an early magnetron not the one that was adopted for radar systems had 40 patents he used to go to into pasadena and he met einstein there and he was the first one that told me well einstein was in pasadena california teaching at caltech for a number of years so he among others was invited to join the institute in 1933 which he did along with van nuyman i do not know how many actually during that period join the institute someday i'll do the research on it and he remained there until his death in 1955. his contributions were first the universal field theory which went into the hands of the united states government precisely what part that played in the project i don't know but it was there and he was the virtual director of the institute and was what they call the basic consultant to all the projects so anybody had a problem einstein was consulted in any case that's enough about einstein and john eric neumann was born 28 december 1903 budapest hungary the son of a wealthy jewish merchant had two brothers and a sister he was uh somewhat of a prodigy himself the age of eight he was handling eight digit numbers in his head for a division to multiple occasion 1925 he took a degree in chemistry 1926 he took a phd in mathematics and he taught in the german university system from 1926 to 1930. he not only met david hilbert during that period he also met a certain gentleman or figured in the development of the bomb later not tell her but uh yeah i wouldn't forget his name right now he was the director of the bomb project in los alamos during the war years yes john van oppenheimer thank you don't know what happened i was doing in europe but he traveled a lot so he came to the institute and became part of the project sort of second in command as i said previously the first test was 1936 in 1940 they had the fully successful test in the brooklyn harbor project was classified my brother and myself were part of the project because of the arrangement through our father whose history we don't really know and we went to school we achieved a phd in physics my brother at the university of edinburgh edinburgh scotland myself from harvard can't find records on any of this some people more than one have tried to trace my brother's history and can't find anything and i can't find anything on my own the cia is very thorough when it comes to erasing records they apparently have a special division for this as having gone through the prior history i will not elaborate much on it after van neumann took over the project march of 42 and examining it he changed his approach as i said previously tesla's approach was basically analog which meant continuous wave signals both magnetic and rf the two were combined in a special manner and he used very elaborate modulation schemes on the rf transmitters before modulating frequencies i won't go into them but there was another key piece of equipment which was absolutely essential which tesla had developed in the 20s and that was what is called a zero time reference generator now what is a zero time reference generator it is a device developed by tesla which was an electromechanical device which locked into the earth's fields after it was running and referenced through the earth's motions celestial motions that is in the solar system to the zero time center of our galaxy now speaking in terms of theory the galaxy of course rotates as is well known on a central axis that central axis even though there may not be a star there is the time reference for the entire galaxy what is called zero time a reference generator must be built to reference that for a universal field reference in order that any of the higher order energies can be generated and synchronized because we do not have anything on earth accurate enough for stable enough for that even though today we have some atomic standards that are very accurate the atomic standards shift as you move them around the surface of the earth consequently you can't use them so he developed this piece of equipment it was used and has been used ever since by the faa as the basic frequency source for all of the equipments built for fa for the glide slope detectors and all of the other systems they use in worldwide navigation it provides an absolute sync reference to all the systems because of referencing a universal standard rather than a local oscillator while you can synchronize local oscillators who are taking a very elaborate satellite system which of course did not exist in the 20s or 30s or the 40s or the 50s that piece of equipment was early essential along with other pulse generators and hardware which won't go into i will brush on them later with the slides and that was a key piece of equipment and because of that piece of equipment the eldridge did return to its final original location although neumann in looking this whole thing over decided to take a new approach and go pulse modulation he was known as the magnetic pulse man so to speak he liked pulsing equipment particularly magnetics because it worked better in his view he could generate a much higher more intense magnetic field for the given equipment they use the same generators 275 kva generators which were built and put that actually been used on the battleship they were built for that they were moved to the eldridge after it was launched and was in dry dock and put in number two gun turret the other equipment was built on a section in the aft deck which we'll show on the picture i have of the eldritch not the equipment but where it was and he proceeded to change the design of the entire system using a master pulse oscillator tied to the zero reference generator and four transmitters in which he upped the power to 2 megawatts each they were pulsed which meant cw 2 megawatts posted a 10 duty cycle which is approximately what he was using you were getting about 20 megawatts pulse power out of each transmitter they were running not simultaneously but in rotation the antennas were set up in a special manner and that combined with the magnetic fields which were also four coils the same original coils built by tesla but in which a slight modification was made called a damping coil on the top the tesla like to build all of his coils in the conical shape i will walk over there and out of the board but i will be using the boards such as it is a little later and they were conical and he put them on the deck of the ship one other man i mentioned will not go into very much his contribution was minimal but important was t townsend brown who had a long and interesting history finally joined the navy became very interested in electrostatics tried to build an electrostatic flying saucer and they kept at this for the rest of his life and he finally did achieve some good results which are outlined in the book just released by standalone entitled is it valedictor scrolls uh i'm sorry vindicator scrolls it's in the process of being released in mass in the us but it's still on the boat it has a series of pictures in there of t townsend brown on his work on electrostatic flying saucers handle shots in his lab with some of the people who work with him but this is in the seventies t townsend brown designed the antenna system and that was about the summon substance of his uh contributions there is one other man who is extremely important in all of this and nothing would have worked without him without his understanding that is a man known as dr norman levinson if you try to find much on him good luck there's born in the united states in 1912 state unknown died in 1976. you can find record of him as a professor of mathematics first assistant professor at the uni massachusetts institute of technology and then in 1955 he was full professor of mathematics he has written a series of books complex variables by dr levinson and and m red heifer gap and density theorems by levinson theory of ordinary differential equations by levinson and carl d eddington as a fourth book i won't even go into that it doesn't relate but it has written four books either alone or a joint authorship they are available in libraries if you can find them not all libraries carry them but it proves a man existed but this is not the important part of his work important part of his work is completely classified he developed what is known as the time equations and from that the time matrix this was absolutely essential to an understanding of the nature of the problem what they were trying to do with the experiment those works are still classified i saw them at one time but i am not familiar with them today and i've not had access to them since uh my identity was changed didn't have the same level clearance the basic purpose of course was to try to make a ship of the line invisible both to site and to radar the second test they changed the radar only how could they accomplish this the first thing you have to understand is the nature of our universe in terms of the reality which we live in we have a three-dimensional reality which we all know and accept and conceive now we might add the third dimension is reconstructed by our dual eye vision the depth perspective is a perspective but nevertheless there are three dimensions which you can show as a three-dimensional vector the fourth dimension is the standard linear time dimension as we know it in terms of the flow of time measured by a clock whether it be a wind-up electric or an atomic clock it's still a linear function and we measure it by those means it doesn't normally change the rate of flow in eighteen i'm sorry nineteen thirty one t b of spensky t p spensky wrote a book entitled hershey morganim a new model of the universe in which he described possibly for the first time in a more or less popular idiom he was also a mathematician by the way the five-dimensional structure of our universe and attempted to portray this on a flat piece of paper in two dimensions good luck if you can understand it it was drawn it's almost meaningless but nevertheless he laid out the groundwork and later on it was understood that this fifth dimension was actually another vector on the end of the time vector as a spinner which i can draw will do after i go through the slides though may give you some better idea what they were trying to do they were not attempting to change time or move through time with the ship what occurred was an accident insofar as the navy was concerned in 1943 what they were attempting to do was alter the spinner rate which would change in a very mathematical and esoteric sense the relationship phase wise of the ship to time and give it a partial time rotation if you rotate it sufficiently the ship becomes radar invisible and you rotate a little more it becomes optically invisible if you rotate it 90 degrees it'll probably drop out of our universe which is what did happen but not by design the equipment was designed to produce a time rotating field basically quite an accomplishment for nineteen forty three when today most people don't understand to this day what happened or the fact that it was actually done well i described the first test it was optical invisibility it was successful as well as radar invisibility the second test 12 august 1943 at a very critical date which the navy assigned to us 12 august 1943 and they said it was a drop dead date do it by then or forget it but they knew very well whoever assigned that date that van neumann would take as much time as possible and not do it before the 12th they were certain he would not solve the problem and he would push for the ultimate end of the time allowed which was to the date the 12th which is what happened now why is that date important that is extremely important for a reason and that reason did not become clear at least to us researching what happened in the past and this means researching it from 1986 or seven on and 88 on specifically for the philadelphia experiment why was that date critical well it seems that none just like the humans who have biorhythms three biorhythm fields for the human body planet earth also has its own biorhythms four of them and they also peak out at one particular point in time and that particular point in time happens to be the 12th of august every 20 years 1943 1963 1983 2003 forward and backwards makes no difference it's every 20 years almost dead on the 12th every year it could shift probably half a day either way because those peaks are not absolute but that is when they peak out a friend of mine did the research program on this to find it and he did it basically by a bank of radio receivers tube type in which he was listening to the noise background off station where there was no transmission and over a period of time he realized it was a pattern to this went to his employer and probably from that of the government i don't really know who paid for it but he got a grant to make a study of this and he did and he submitted his data it was run through computers and computer correlated as they say and they came up with bingo there are four biorhythms and they do peak out on the 12th of august i won't go into how i don't even know how they ran the tests or how they do the computer analysis but a friend of mine vouched for this because he said he was the one who discovered it and he did do it and he got credit and even got a bonus for it and that of course is highly classified but uh the information is available and it was extremely important because without it being on the 12th of august it was plus or minus one day probably there would never been a lockup between the two experiments now i will have to develop to some extent the follow-on experiment the phoenix project and show you why that was important i do have i don't have the slides i have a lot of pictures of the phoenix project and its ruins after it went down on 12 august 83 but nonetheless that was a project which started in 1948 on long island at brookhaven national laboratory during the war years my father was busy smuggling jewish scientists out of europe into the united states with the help of adl and uh they put them in hiding after the war was over they came out they went to work at brookhaven national laboratories government paid and all of this on a project of mind control this was phase one of the phoenix project this went on for approximately 20 years i won't go in all the details but uh sometime in the 60s roughly around 68 somebody in congress started reading the monthly reports which are required for all government funded research programs they must submit a monthly report of progress somebody started to read them they found out what are these guys doing they're proposing mind control systems they might use it on us cancel a project they did and the scientists looked for a haven and they found it down at montauk which is then fort hero long island the extreme eastern tip of long island and in the meantime other projects took part and were placed under the general umbrella of what was called the phoenix project by 1947 after all of this mess was over the war was over that neumann was asked to reopen the project which he did and in between other responsibilities which included chasing ufos at a crash in new mexico four of them from 47 to 49 he was part of the team with dr van over bush was the head of the off a head scientist and adviser to the president of the office of science and apparently van neumann was a second in command who went with him he investigated four crashes but in between all of this which did not take full time he reopened the project and looked at it and he was asked can you salvage anything out of this or at least find out what really happened finally found out what really happened he had to do his metaphysical homework and he found something very interesting something which would have not been known to that point perhaps at least by the scientific community i will not speak for any other community that every individual when they are born actually going back to the conception which is a time when the fetus in a certain sense is born it comes into creation when the egg splits and starts to develop there's a set of time locks placed on that developing fetus which locks it to this time stream actually it is not the fetus which is concerned with the lock it is the soul which comes to that body and has a lock placed on that body so it then flows with time as we know it and it's locked to that time period your date is uh december 31st 1919 or whatever it may be you go back about nine months from that date where you can see that's when there was lock was placed on there and those locks remain with you for the rest of your life until you die or something disrupts them the something that disrupted them was in the case of the crew of the eldritch the extremely powerful magnetic and rf fields they cause disruption of the time locks they cause a lot of disruption of other things like their body physiology and did a number of things to them which is why several of them went in the funny farms for the rest of the life but the primary point was those time locks were disrupted but the ship had a time lock of its own namely that zero time reference generator which gave them the reference points through their electronics of where they came from where they should be and actually when the equipment was smashed not the time reference generators or some of its related equipment but only the main generators or the feeds to the main generators actually the ship came back to its reference point but the individual people had no references consequently what happened to them they started floating in space in hyperspace they already you might say floating though as the ship maintains its fields they are within the confines of that field they are therefore not in danger per se but they already were in potential danger because the time locks have been ruptured of those who were on deck those behind the steel decks down below or where we were in the hole for running the equipment the steel is a very good shield for magnetic fields as well as rf if the fields are strong enough they'll start to go through the steel and obviously it did in a few locations it saturated the steel and the field would then penetrate but very weakened the time locks were ruptured when the fields started to collapse they no longer had a containment so to speak of the fields of the ship they were floating those on deck if they were lucky they got their feet on the deck as the fields collapsed and the ship came back to its normal point in the harbor if they weren't so lucky the bodies were drifting and when finally the ship re-materialized and their bodies re-materialize if they weren't in exactly the same location where they had been in the first place or those who were walking around during the whole experiment which there were several many they wound up two in the steel decks their bodies intermingled with the steel molecules and the flesh and blood of the human body and there's no hope for them two were in the steel bulkheads fifth man had his hand in the wall they were moving at that point of course they were not physical in terms of our reality they were physical in terms of where they were which was hyperspace which is a nice neat mathematical term which says you're nowhere you're between universes and normal laws do not apply it's sort of a bubble you're enclosed in it if the bubble starts to collapse which it did and they've got trouble and that's what happened the answer to the problem which van neumann found how he found it i'm not sure what the solution was i have no knowledge at this point but the solution basically was that they had to provide a means to lock the time references of the individuals to the ship's reference and to shield the individuals in some manner against the full force of the fields now one can go into metaphysics and say if you did proper training of your bodies and expand the etheric bodies expand these aura and do a number of other protective things you could probably shield yourself against the effects of those magnetic and rf fields but can you imagine the navy training all of the sailors metaphysics it's not likely they had to find other means they did exactly what as i say i don't know but in 1953 after i might add another abortive attempt involving a naval aircraft in 1948 he built some miniaturized equipment not requiring the power sent that aircraft aboard abroad and up in the air from what navy field i don't know the pilot took it up on radio command turned equipment on it became radar invisible everything worked fine to turn it off come back to base everything was fine they thought they had it the van neumann who was in on this said let's wait a while before we send them up again and be sure we have it they waited a year took the same plane same equipment and the same pilot with an observer this time and send it up in the same general areas to turn on the equipment they did the observer observed something rather interesting the pilot disappeared it was not a trained flyer for i believe it was an f-80 they used and the plane crashed no body for the pilot the dead body of the observer at that point the navy wiped his hands of that particular program involving aircraft so van oyman had another problem on his hands the same basic one and he solved it he realized that computer was necessary so we went back to the institute and developed along with dr goldstein the basic mathematical approach for the modern digital computer and built a computer out of tubes about 1950 51 52 they built a complete new system with his new approach for the navy in 1953 they had a full test with a new ship and a new crew i do not know which ship or what crew or where but it was conducted and it was fully successful there were no reactions with the personnel they didn't lose any out into space they also didn't have a phoenix project running because they were well past that point in terms of a possible lock-on and it was not 1963 where they would have another possible period of a lock-in it was successful the navy reclassified the project dropped project rainbow which would have been the name from 1940 and call it the phoenix project dropped it under the umbrella of the phoenix project what happened after that a number of things number one they continued development through several generations and from that came the technology for invisibility for the stealth bomber for the b1 which most people don't know about and eventually a whole class of naval ships and that equipment does exist today it is used by the navy that was an adjunct to the phoenix project other things occurred i was somewhat kaleidoscope the phoenix project and what happened there and give you the history of that then we'll take a break and then we'll have the slides phoenix project went through another phase called phase two which was the mind control hardware which they wanted to develop and test that also was very successful i will not go into details on it then came phase three phase three began approximately 1963-64 as a study program in how to control time now during this period van neumann was the director he remained director of the phoenix project until 1977 whereupon he removed himself and another man became the director but he remained on as consultants about 10 years of study went into this program as to how to do time travel and not only time travel but how to travel through space at the same time they wanted to go one order beyond the normal time travel which van neumann already knew and knew how to do and had secretly built a time transmitter a time machine if you will in his lab i believe uh down in princeton because he ran me through it a few times but they wanted something beyond this and at this point income the aliens as part and parcel of the phoenix project in the latter phase phase three as it was called we did not have the knowledge or the technology of how to develop time travel combined with travel through space in other words a tunnel through space and time they did have that capability agreements have been made with our government how i don't know because this was not the grays this was a different group called the leverons that was our name for them they looked basically human about six foot slightly scaly slightly greenish skin no hair put a suit on them a hat and a pair of dark glasses they would pass for human in a city the skin might look a little bit off but you can dye that too if you want to but down to the normal working clothes it was obvious they were not human but very intelligent very advanced technologically what they were doing there how they got there i don't know but the later director hermann dr herman seanton who came from germany in 1938 courtesy of my father again became the new director in 1977 and he was on board before that actually he was a director of the entire project from lincoln labs mit massachusetts which was the headquarters director for the entire project what other projects i have no idea but at least the phoenix project he was told by the government he had to learn to work with aliens period i also was told that he was to explore time and space and the outermost reaches of physics that that was his charge and literally what he was being charged to do so he did it took them ten years to convert their data from their computers which we could not interface with in those days to our ibm 360 than the fastest and best machine available by the late 70s of course other machines were coming online but the die had been cast which says uh we've got the 360s we got to use them so they hand transcribed the data into the memory banks of the 360s and they had a lot of trouble getting it to work eventually they did and eventually they realized they had to have an additional input which required some psychics to steer it and some hardware built off planet so it became sort of a hybrid project but by 1975 after the i might add after the sage project was abandoned by the u s government the air force in 1969 they shut down all 25 stations because we had something better namely the dew line in canada and later beam use all these stations 25 of them were abandoned were being carried as surplus property so at this point in moves on site at montauk the phoenix project the phoenix project was not funded by the us government it was privately funded believe it or not by nazi gold which was taken out of europe in 1944 actually was not removed physically from europe in 44 but was removed from the reichsbank in 1944 as they were losing the war somehow was captured by our side the americans who went through an american train through a french railroad tunnel which was dynamited 51 gi's died there's a documentary film on this by the way if you can find it and patton got wind of this and says what the blazes is going on our troop trains being dynamited behind our lines and where did that goal go it disappeared well 10 billion at the then going price of twenty dollars an ounce which says the today's price is about 150 billion that's important because the goal disappeared it went underground it was never found patton was murdered in this process of his investigation and in 1954 the gold turns up and the ship sinking off of montauk long island and a fog came out of nowhere and scuba divers from the fort then still operating as an army fort went out and recovered it and went someplace on the ground it financed the phoenix project for many years they had over 100 billion to work with and they spent more than that eventually itt corporation who was the carrier for the project that is the organizer the contractor for outside hardware which had to be built they had to acquire computers they had to revamp the transmitter they had have pulse forming networks the modulator design huge power supplies they attempted to use the main uh power station which was built originally each one of the sage sites had its own power station with actually four generators in it one was standby each put out a megawatt they tried to use those and eventually they found they couldn't they had to use local power the fields they generated were so powerful they were affecting the generators they finally gave up and used the power piped in by luco many changes were made through the years i and my brother became part of the project and ourselves and we were there on site when we arrived from the philadelphia experiment that kept us apart which if you consider time looping it's a very complicated business but nevertheless we worked as part of that project for many years i do not know exactly how many but i know it was in excess of 10 myself and my brother a number of years and i do not know if records existed this anywheres or not the films were made they disappeared the project was successful eventually they had full control in 1979 approximately they had the final hardware in place in 1980 it was signed off so to speak and it became super secret inner sanctum type uh restricted accessibility and all of the military people who were assigned there and there were some military people from the army in the air force were removed except the skeleton group of the military as security and the phoenix project went on as merry way basically as a machine and a device to travel through time and space and explore time and space they went to our knowledge and our recollections at least a hundred thousand years into the past and perhaps a million years into the future and what they did with all of this we really don't know there are other aspects the program we don't understand do not understand at all but we do understand basically what they were doing it was because of the fact that the phoenix project was running and this again as i say very strongly was an alien directed project though we're using a lot of our technology and hardware it was essentially all built here except for two items that project running continuously from august 1 1983 on through august 12th set up the background where the two projects could lock up they both had to be running on the 12th of august either 20 or 40 or 60 years apart in this case of course it was 40 years they locked up the problem was developed a huge bubble in hyperspace way to go back as i said smashed equipment and break it that night montauk went down and became history and now it is this surplus junk if you will anybody can go in there because the state took it over was given to the state by the federal government surplus to be used as a park january 1 1986 they are not using it as a park they don't know what to do with it but it's still there essentially intact so far as the buildings are concerned and what's left of the hardware which one can get in and see and we have a lot of pictures though but i not have slides prepared of that and it's not too important to what we're going into i think at this point why don't we take a five minute break and stretch then we'll have slides and go on from there i realize there are a lot of gaps in this thing so i'll try to fill them in first my own history what happened after the philadelphia experiment went down actually prior to the demise of the experiment my and my brother of course were skirt chasers from way back and during the period before the experiment if you've ever seen the movie the philadelphia experiment they show the opening scene taking place in a bar in downtown philadelphia and the last night before the test that did actually occur the name of that bar was the blue lagoon and i was there quite a bit in the movie they showed two principals running equipment who were having their last night out the taller one played by i think was robert pereira was my brother the other one who was shorter and they didn't have a role model and who had the girlfriend was me my girlfriend was pregnant after the experiment was over and i was placed in quarantine eventually i got out of quarantine and i had a little problem with the navy and i suddenly came to van oyman finally they wouldn't let me see my wife because i did marry her wouldn't let me see her as a girlfriend much less uh finally got married by van neumann's intercession and was done at the chapel of princeton i wanted to be married before the child was due and i had a great deal of trouble seeing her but occasionally i did sneak out navy wanted to keep me isolated for a long period of time the experiment went down i was there with not very much to do the navy did not want to send me out to sea they knew very well i'd be talking and they'd leak out throughout the disaster there were already a few leaks they know what to do in late 43 approximately october and neumann made a trip to los alamos for a major meeting and he became part of the operations up there for development of the atomic bomb to fill you in very briefly gauss fermin made the first test of a sustained chain reaction in an atomic pile under the chicago stadium in december 1942 in my mind for him he should have been the director but politics plays strange games j robert oppenheimer became the director of the project of los alamos which did not come online until late 43. they took over an old boy's camp stripped everything except a few buildings and started building the lab in the summer of 43. and it was pretty much online operational by november december and neumann became one of the key people there he's not given much credit but he was a consultant he was not on board as a permanent member of the team and he made the suggestion to the navy well why don't you have mr cameron go up there to los alamos and make some contributions and the navy was delighted because that would bury me in a secret lab that nobody knew anything about in the city that didn't exist and it would be away from the fleet and i could do something useful for them and they could keep me isolated at the same time so i was transferred to los alamos i stayed there until july 2nd 47 what happened is rather curious i wrote my reports that neumann was in and out he was not there more than roughly six weeks at a time jarep and harman robert oppenheimer ran the project along with dr edward teller and a number of other people you can dig out in the books and when the thing was over again there was a lot of people footloose and i was and the navy gave me an assignment to write a history of the development the atomic bomb had the clearance for full access to their records and the vaults so i started digging and i found some things in there i wasn't supposed to find started asking some questions i suppose i was not supposed to ask within the navy of course and some of the civilian staff were all cleared but somebody somewhere has realized i knew entirely too much and was going to dig too much out and pretend i was potentially a great danger to the establishment the decision was made that i had to go and for reasons i won't go into it they couldn't kill me that's the simplest way to get rid of a person they decided they couldn't do that i was charged on the 2nd of july by my recollection it's interesting it was because the new first ufo crashed in new mexico on the 7th of july outside of roswell which van neumann was called in on along with vannever bush who is the chief of science advisor to president truman and to later presidents second of july i was charged with espionage arrested family was left behind and was taken out by train to washington dc i expected a court martial there was none stayed there a week to 10 days and then i was taken again by train all the way out to long island to fort hero to a certain little spot a location which is on the pictures i have and surrounded by military personnel told you stand in the center there with guns on me and i did next thing i know was back in 1983 at the underground of montauk and van nuyman was very upset he says i'm sorry he says i can't do anything about this but i know what's going to happen to you i'm going to strip you of your memory your personality and everything and send you back in the past and bury in another family he knew what was coming down he told me i didn't quite believe it but it happened they put me on some special equipment all electronic and i'm not sure the original plan was followed but nevertheless what occurred is this by then among other technologies achieved both here and perhaps with alien help the government had full capability of physical age regression they use this on for many years let's say from the 70s on mid 70s on selected people whom they wanted to keep alive reduce their age by let's say 20 or 30 years put them back to roughly 21 if they're in a 60. because of their great knowledge and expertise in a given project they want to keep them on and use their brains and have them develop even further they'd say okay you sign up for another 10 years or x number of years we'll give you your youth back and you work for us for maybe another 10 or perhaps 20 years they did it to a number of people but they never took them beyond 21. i know personally three people who are age regressed so i can say i know what happened i will not give them the names so i was putting the equipment they violated their own rules they sent me backwards to the point where i was a baby approximately age one and by pre-arrangement with another family astrologically and otherwise i was plugged into the belik family who already had a son and what i can piece together of this i still don't have the whole picture but apparently the son either by arrangement or actually became very ill the mother was told the baby died in the hospital and by some arrangement i was substituted well we have somebody you can substitute for you as an adoption or whatever i do not know exactly what the arrangements were but i do know that before my mother died in a nursing home a legal mother missus albertina kurchus bilik that her mind wanted a lot about four months before her final demise she made a comment one day looking at me like you didn't know me quote the baby's dead isn't it unquote there was only one child in that family therefore i had essentially my answer they substituted me i grew up as alfred bielik with no memory of anything it's like a new life went through school high school college eventually went in the navy a second time in electronics again became an aviation electronic technicians mate was only in a little over a year got out and by 1947 i was one highly confused person because i realized by then something was wrong drastically wrong i didn't really belong in the family i knew it then for certain had had policies fleeting images during the teenage years of remembering something there would be fleeting memories of other things mathematical formulae other languages something that lasts a second or a second and a half and it all chop off and then i would have the memory of well what was it i remembered something happened but i don't know what it was this happened many times as i say i went on and went back to college became an electronic engineer 30 years as a consultant partially as a result of that and also my interest in metaphysics which i did not have by the way as edward cameron i had no interest in it whatever very materialistic as my brother was nevertheless i developed an interest in metaphysics that sprung up perhaps at the age of seven in mars albilic and this expanded and grew throughout the years and i had some efforts at regression in the 60s which were partially successful they broke the barrier to my memory of past lives which laid the groundwork perhaps for remembering in 1985 i was at the uspa conference in dayton ohio and though i had met preston nichols prior to this at another convention i didn't pay much attention to him then he was there with his big tesla coil which he demonstrated plus an assistant he did not have previously this assistant was duncan cameron at that point unknown to me my brother and he was demonstrating along with preston some hi-fi equipment he was developing as well as the tesla coil and he was a subject on stage and i became interested in that hi-fi equipment had a private demonstration in his room later was quite phenomenal and the effects it had on me and also i began to realize after talking for an hour or two with duncan that i knew this guy from somewheres i didn't know where it took about a day and i finally realized i knew him from some other lifetime and he says yeah i think i do know you but i don't know where from either time went on convention folded up i was invited to visit preston at his laboratory hyperspace laboratories in long island sometime in the near future and maybe you like to join the lab because they were looking for people and expected to expand at that time into other operations so i said great next month i went august expecting display stay about a weekend i stayed 14 days the weekend i think was the first weekend i was there preston says to me and to duncan he says i have something i want to show both of you and i know neither one of you have been out there before he says it's out on the eastern end of long island what is it well you'll find out when you get there so we drove it's a long drive about two hours from islip central long island to the extreme tip particularly through weekend traffic finally as we're approaching the town of montauk which is about 10 miles to the west of montauk point which is where the lighthouse and the park and the military station was we see this huge thing on the horizon which was a radar station and we said what's that and he says that's the old radar station which was at montauk what do you feel about it we felt something we didn't like it we went driving finally parked the van at the park and we went wandering on the grounds wide open fences were down further into the grounds we went the more ugly we felt about what we were feeling we were not nauseous but we were very highly disturbed by the feels around that property in broad daylight finally we tried to get in the radar tower which was the eighth story building which housed the radar antenna on the top and all of the main equipment the antenna i might say was about 60 feet high 125 feet across was an oval sort of shape weighed 125 tons the support and operating machinery that drove it weighed another 125 tons so they had 250 tons of machinery sitting on the roof of this building needless to say it was very strongly reinforced concrete and steel eight stories high it was actually higher and more visible at sea than the lighthouse in my talk there was talk of tearing it down but all the people that see says no don't we can see that before we can see the lighthouse that's still there and that visit we didn't get into the main radar building but we didn't like what we felt at all subsequently we made other visits i went back in the spring of 86 and several trips and of course duncan and preston made several other trips duncan eventually became aware of his involvement with montauk before i did and sometime in the fall of 86 after i moved to long island i moved there in august i obtained work in september and then an engineering position in october which blew up my face at christmas because the company was having economic problems it was a small company and i got laid off first and then a lot of people about 40 followed me so it was not something aimed at me it was just a general economic problem but during that period and being there subsequently because i came back and then stayed until march when i went back to phoenix because i had a job there a lot of discussion a lot of comparing of notes and they kept accusing me both preston and duncan that i had been part of montauk and he says no he says what do you mean no he said i have no memory of it i said i i don't think i was part of it is all i can really say in truth and i have no memory of it i said we know you were there why says i remember you there preston came up with something even better and trying to track down the history of some of the hardware which was visible as remains to the project in the radar tower which later we got into there was a huge computer there all tube type and had the name played on the company who built it which happened to be his company contract number the date and all of this no records in the files purchasing couldn't find anything we didn't build it oh they did it took access to other files which won't go into but preston eventually found it and he was showing it they couldn't take any records out or keep them in his hands he was showing them under secure conditions they built it there were pictures at the time of delivery of that specific piece of equipment a tube type computer and among the pictures of those around the station the delivery was a picture of myself i've never saw this picture but preston did and he says i know you were there i saw the picture of him i said how to be a devil he says i don't think so subsequently i did find out i was there i was part of the project a major part of it a lot of people we know seem to have been part of it and of course ben neumann was there and we have a little problem here in terms of enjoyment because the public record says that john van noyman died of cancer in 1957 and they had a funeral for him and all of that he did not there was a cover he is alive today there is proof that he lived at least through 1980 i have one set of documentation which is part of the slides and some other i'm aware i'm going to try and get copies of but i do not yet have in my hands showing that he was still working as a consulting engineer among other things in 1980 with the zenith radio corporation computer division designed the z100 computer which was very popular they sold thousands of them many to the cia and then later as a kit to heath kit company which many people bought them and they're all over the country he was the designer of it any case he was alive he is alive and he was there through the end because he had to be and i grew up and i was part of that project and then after that was over they gave me a real thorough brainwashing hoping i would not remember the phoenix project as a matter of fact i remember that before the philadelphia experiment because the treatment they gave me as part of the burial of my past of the philadelphia experiment was far more thorough than equivalency they gave me another body though actually i'm in the same body i said in equivalency they gave me another body but in fact i am in the same body it was edward cameron it's just age regressed and i was identified by a person in last summer a year ago alan batchelor by name who had been also a survivor of the philadelphia experiment was finally met during one of these sessions and trying to explain this in the phoenix project which was january of 1989 in new york at a local chapter meeting of the uspa uh preston met him the subject at that time did not come up of the phoenix project but a couple of months later it did for some reason he met him and uh says yeah not only that he says i was part of the philadelphia experiment so you were i said yeah i think you better talk with somebody he says we have another person who is uh claims to be a survivor of the experiment i'm gonna put him on a phone conversation with you and we had a three-way conference call this was i believe june of last year alan batchelor preston nichols and myself i talked with alan for about 15 minutes he says i remember you i said you do i said yes based on what your voice if i were in a different body it would not be the same voice he said i remember your voice i remember you and i says keep talking so i did he says you had a brother i said that's true and i said he was there with you and said that's true i asked him that's the point he said was my name balik then he said absolutely not i said what was it well he had a ruminate for quite a while but he finally came up with cameron it wasn't easy but he did and he remembered many of the details and they gave him across the standard brainwashing treatment but he was in a somewhat different category he left the navy he stayed in the navy for a number of years and they kept brainwashing and finally told them if you continue this you'll have more problems than you got now so they stopped he left the navy sometime in the 70s and he went into the merchant marine had an accident and retired from that and he's got retirement checks from the merchant marine the navy and social security so he's not hurting and he's now in a totally different profession metaphysics i'm doing well at it i might add but he did remember and this raises of course many problems how many other survivors were there i know of two others who were aboard the ship they will not talk don byers who is the radio operator he's living somewheres in the baltimore area as of my last recollection actually from someone else and another person in the dallas area who was part of it and i've never met he will not talk with anyone potentially a third or rather a sixth person the third will not talk who's living in mississippi not been able to get through to him at all he won't get through to anyone he's questionable as to whether he really was a survivor i don't know a number went to the funny farms ford died and a few disappeared altogether by my recollection there were 15 on the ship at the time of the final test including captain engel who was not the permanent captain but a temporary after the whole thing was washed down the tubes the navy converted the eldridge to a regular ship of war gave it a standard crew the regular captain who was assigned to that ship on the date of commission which was august 27th and to my knowledge is correct because it was after the two tests were over but they held the ship for further tests in october and the interesting little log which is by maritime law is required to be kept with every ship from either the time of commission or from an earlier date if there's something involved with activity with that ship before formal commission was turned over to the greeks in 1951 but it turned out that it was minus all pages in the log prior to january 1 1944 so he couldn't prove a thing in so far as the log was concerned i think at this point uh we'll have some slides we'll go from here into some other aspects of the past and some pieces of hardware that were recovered from the eldritch strangely if we can have the lights out and the projector on [Music] some dim lights will be all right otherwise you won't see the slides these are not high-powered projectors uh as a projector yeah projectors on okay just a little lord and be all right because some of the pictures some of the pictures here are rather low in intensity and i'll try to speak here into the mic so you can hear me this first picture is actually of the graduate school of princeton in the inside courtyard back about 1988 i made a trip down there in fact i've made two trips to sort of look over the old grounds and see if it did anything for me and it certainly did stir memories this was the inner courtyard of the graduate school and as you can see from that architecture it's a very old school it's another shot of the same inner courtyard let's see if i got control from here i should have and i was taking a later time with the same area in that same courtyard they have a pine tree i decided that thing was worth taking a picture of it because it's about 75 feet high and i'd have no idea how old it might be over 100 years old because princeton is the second oldest university in the us to my recollection which says it goes back almost as far in history as harvard it's over 150 years old and it is a very prestigious school with a long history in the course the graduate school they have a library and they also have a study room this study room just shot there of it was a place where i did spend a lot of time at that particular point there was only one person in it and it gives you some idea the flavor of the school is old mahogany paneling and old wood wood paneling and a lot of ancient pictures hanging on the walls primarily prior deans the chapel on princeton which i mentioned earlier that special memory for me i did not get into it i couldn't find a way in that day and it was late in the afternoon where i was married now this is a picture of fooled hall food hall was the first major administrative building put up in conjunction with the institute of advanced study this is all on princeton grounds but it is totally independent of princeton university itself there are buildings built before this this was the main administrative building but up in 39 contained the main classrooms and today also the library that is a shot of the interior library on the far wall there's a picture of albert einstein it's quite old and has an incredible collection of books that was where i first found books of hilbert i couldn't find them in arizona i couldn't find them at the believe it or not the graduate school library at princeton they had cards in the file but no books but the institute library is somewhat different you don't take books out of there and you can only take them as far as your office if you're an actual bona fide member of the institute or are a postgraduate student doing some special studies and they're charged out to you otherwise you use them there in the library if you come in as a visitor of course you can use them or look at them which i did this was the major research facility at princeton built prior to 1939 and in this office our series now offices in this building a lot of the experimental work went on some of the classrooms existed at that time they had a lab in the back which strangely enough now is a woodworking shop but that was a place where i spent a considerable amount of time with tesla when he was there and van neumann as he took over the project was there most of the time at blackboard i may not be as old as the period when i was there but it's in the same room in the end and they had memories for me many things were explained on that blackboard in terms of the theory and the mathematics of the project and what they were trying to do if there was anybody here mathematically inclined i can give you a very brief idea they were attempting to build an inverted conical structure in hyper in space not hyperspace as such but it was also coupling into hyperspace to a degree there were two sets of simultaneous nonlinear equations one of which described an inverted double ended cone structure which is what was adopted because it was simpler there was another set of equations which would describe mathematically a closed oblate spheroid a form which was not used because it was more complex but would have saved them the disaster if they had used it anyway those are some of the things which van noiman described and explained because after i had my degree in physics
